HELLO!
My name is Shawn Moore, and I am excited to be joining the team at MS2TC this year! I will be teaching 8th Grade Science.
A Bit About Me...
I have lived in New Baltimore for most of my life, and am a 2010 graduate of Anchor Bay High School. I graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Biology, with minors in Mathematics and Integrated Science. I am certified to teach both subjects at the secondary level. I am currently seeking my Master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in K-12 School Administration and Educational Leadership.
Prior to joining the team at MS2TC, I have taught Math, Math Foundations, Science, and Project Lead the Way STEM in Anchor Bay School District. I love teaching Science and Math, helping to show students how these concepts and ideas truly apply to the world around them. I try to teach my students in a way that I would enjoy BEING a student, so I try to incorporate lots of labs, activities, discussions, and projects into my classroom.
This summer, I had the rewarding opportunity to travel with Ambassador Leaders, where I served as a teacher leader for students from around the world at their Medicine and Healthcare Summit. I had the opportunity to facilitate discussions, lab activities, and work with a group of 12 amazing students from around the world, while continuing to push myself to be the best teacher possible.
In my free time, I love to stay busy! In the fall, you can typically find me at school events, or outside with my family. On Saturdays in the fall, I am typically found in front of the TV watching college football, rooting on the Spartans. I also enjoy traveling, and have been to Europe, and more recently Australia. Feeding kangaroos was one of my "bucket list" items, so I had to make sure that it happened.
In my classroom, you can expect to be respected by me and your peers, and safe to express your viewpoints. I am your biggest "cheerleader". My job is to push you academically, but giving you all of the supports and resources that you need to be successful.
Remember, we have a lot to learn this year... but How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Email is the preferred method of communication, as I check it many times a day. I would be happy to respond or follow up with your questions as soon as possible.
